The Kathleen Mary House is a Southtowns transitional house that opened its doors to women and their children who are victims of domestic violence and need safe, short-term housing. The Kathleen Mary House will benefit families in this area.
With over 500 new cases of domestic violence reported in 2005, there is a grave problem that needs to be addressed now. When the women are brave enough to escape, they should have alternatives to going back to the abuse and violence.
The Kathleen Mary House is more than just a place to live; it is a place of new beginnings. Residents will be given the physical, emotional, and spiritual assistance they need in a secure, nurturing environment.
The programs offered will teach the women and children how to break the cycle of violence giving them back their dignity and teaching them the life skills needed to lead self-sufficient, rewarding lives.
To provide A safe, nurturing family environment and specially designed programs to break the cycle of domestic violence and provide life skills which will enable them to lead productive lives.
