Requirements for new VolunteersMust be at least 18 years old. Cannot be in crisis due to domestic or sexual violence, substance abuse, or some other critical event. It is asked that prospective volunteers be removed from a personal crisis situation for at least one year before applying to be a volunteer. |
Resident Volunteer (direct service)Provide general support to the women and children residing at the Kathleen Mary House. May include transporting clients and their children to and from appointments and assisting with child care as needed. Family Court VolunteerAssist individuals requesting order of protection and/or custody petitions from Family Court. Non-Direct VolunteerPerform clerical, household or general tasks (i.e. answering telephones, cleaning, clerical assistance, picking up donations, etc.) Special Events VolunteerAssist with Kathleen Mary House fundraising events and projects. Independent VolunteerIndividuals or community groups volunteer their time to sponsor fundraising events, coordinate special projects (i.e. holiday parties) for shelter residence; teach crafts, dancing, piano, assist with homework, or donate professional services. Speakers BureauThe Speakers Bureau is a proactive volunteer community outreach initiative that provides increased awareness of domestic violence and promotes the Kathleen Mary House.
